#truthursday. number one.

Truth: I’m not sure if I love pink because it’s a great color or if I love it because it’s become part of my identity.

Growing up, my favorite color was blue. I was a bit of a tomboy, playing on sports teams and wearing basketball jerseys all of the time. My favorite movie was Space Jam, because I loved Michael Jordan.

Somewhere along the course of my life, I started to love the color pink. I think this change happened somewhere between 8th and 9th grade. Since then, it has slowly been taking over my life. For a visual, please click here or at the word “pink” at the top of my blog.

At this point in my life, I gravitate towards things that are pink. If you offer me two cups, one being bright green and one being pink, I will undoubtedly choose the pink cup. If there is ever an option for pink, I choose it. Is this because I genuinely just love the color, or is it out of habit?

If I were to ever adopt another favorite color, I’m sure life would go on, but it gives me a lot of anxiety to think about because I’d become a completely different person.

Once my hair went from light brown to dark brown. I thought it made me more cynical. I am easily influenced by small changes.

  1. i think i gravitate AWAY from pink in the same way as you do towards it!! but i agree – colours can and do form a person’s identity. i suspect that if the colour red ceased to exist i, too, would cease to be…
