Day 13 — Something you’re looking forward to

Despite all of my fears, my apprehensions, and so on and so forth, I am really excited to be at home. My new home, in Covina. with my beautiful friends. This is the picture Aleen posted on my Facebook wall of our bedroom. I am excited to stand in that room, to unroll Emily’s sleeping bag on the floor and lay down and stare at the ceiling and talk to Aleen.

My fears, my apprehensions. Oh my goodness. Trusting in Jesus? Tough work. Today I had small moments of freaking out. I was writing a letter and I had to get up and walk away, because I was so upset by the words and thoughts being poured into it. As I kept writing and thinking… a faith that can’t be tested can’t be trusted.

Today I did a whole lot of nothing. When I went to drink tea and read (Searching for God Knows What) this evening, it was interrupted by an impromptu sing-a-long which reached its peak when we decided to re-write “Pharaoh, Pharaoh” about Jonah. This is as far as we got;

Whaley, whaley.. oooh whaley let Jonah go (barf barf!) yeah yeah yeah…
Well Jonah was naughty, didn’t listen to the Lord
A boat was leaving so he jumped onboard

…then we started singing other songs. It was really funny as it was happening, though. Probably one of those “you had to be there”  moments.

Tomorrow we will go to Redwood Glen, and it will be oh so much fun.

  1. BAHAHAHAHA….I love that you re-wrote the words to Pharaoh Pharaoh. Hilarious!!! Keep trusting in God for His plan for you life and you will be rewarded! This is an exciting time in your life and it’s okay to doubt. I read somewhere once that it’s even okay to have doubt in your faith because its shows that you belive in God and His will. The non-believers never doubt because they don’t believe in anything for them to doubt. Keep on truckin’ and trust Him.

  2. STEPH! You will be here so soon…i know the apprehension in the face of the unknown is overwhelming….but you are being waited for! We are waiting to embrace you and love you through all of the things you feel!

    Also, our room has a few pictures on my side of the wall! BUT I think we must schedule a little photoshoot of you and me, so as to complete our new room, our new life together (hahaha sounds like a marriage! me= cheesy). I am waiting to complete our room until you get here 🙂

    See you soon!

  3. Marcie – thanks girl. I have been really doing a lot of thinking about how doubt and fear and stuff exists inside of my faith; how people kind of casually throw the words “trust in the Lord” around.. because I DO, but MAN is it scary. I am like manic in it; at times I am completely at peace and rested, and other times I am freaking out at God. Good thing he loves me enough to put up with the obnoxious. Thanks for the encouragement. 🙂

    Aleen – It is so funny that you say that it sounds like a marriage, because I keep describing it in ways that sound like a marriage. With my moment of worry about pink, I was very much like… “Will she love me? will she accept me? am I enough?” and was like.. the day before I get married, I’ll be like “oh, I’ve already gone through all of these emotions with Aleen.. I’m good.” haha. I can’t wait. I find my peace in knowing that God’s so gracious in not just taking me someplace scary by myself, but putting me right next to someone I love so much!! I agree with the photoshoot…. to the millionth degree. =)
